The Blog in Which I Brag About Getting to go to the Oscars

February 24, 2009

I got to go to the Oscars. It was fun.

The best part of the night, aside from watching the my date’s stuff in the show, and aside from sitting next to Alfred Maysles, was the dessert that was served at the governor’s ball.   it was a box that opened into three separate compartments containing cookies, ice cream and chocolates respectively. The box was colored red and pink and had an oscar statue standing on top of it. It looked good enough to eat, and I thought that in this strange world in which i was watching Mike Leigh and Tilda Swinton wolfing down salad next to one another, anything should be possible, and so i took a bite of the box and the people sitting around me thought i was acting screwey until i chewed and swallowed it.  White chocolate.

Willy Woscars!

There. Done.

now I can’t stop thinking of chocolate, cookies and ice cream, damnit…yumm…

glad you had fun at the Oscars, though. I LOVE this year’s new format, it was quite excellent and way more fun than previous Oscar ceremonies. The highlight of the evening was the Original Screenplay/Adapted screenplay presentation– that was brilliant how they had a screenplay projected on the screen. I was very happy how the Academy paid a nice, proper tribute to screenwriters, who have always been ignored and neglected.

Dustin Lance Black’s speech was absolutely touching, by the way.

I have to agree… the boxed chocolate desert was the best part of the Governor’s Ball (not so much the golden Oscar on top, sorry WP)… And everyone made fun of me at my table when they saw me bite the lid of my first box, but it was extra-delicious!
The show was a very good one too…

Got something to say?
